People have found ways to help others understand aphasia as they raise aphasia awareness. We’ll share some of these ideas and how you can help too.
Aphasia is different for everyone, which can make it hard to explain. Most people get aphasia suddenly after a stroke and get better slowly. Others have language problems that get worse slowly over time because of changes in their brain.
It’s important to help your family and friends understand YOUR aphasia and what YOU need. This is the first step in raising awareness in your immediately circle, making sure they understand your needs. It’s also important that others understand that YOUR aphasia may be very different than someone else’s.
